The Wicklow Fall

Book One · The Wicklow Mysteries · T.S. Wicklow

Ellen Lindgren has a sagging porch, mossy steps, and a life she's managed into a straight line. Nothing's wrong, exactly. She counts her steps. She counts everything. Then the phone rings: it's official. Her late great-aunt Gladys has left her twenty acres outside Wicklow, Idaho, with a farmhouse, a barn and a horse arena, and a domestic animal. And a condition she just learns about. Ellen has ninety days to move or the land reverts to a trust.

Ellen hesitates. Her friends already know.

Then someone ends up dead at the bottom of the town hall stairs, and the county calls it an accident. Dry stairs. One beer. A man who could hold his liquor. The numbers don't add up.

Briarfield

Book One · The Briarfield Series · Rowan Hale

Lila Reeves hasn't been touched right in twenty years. She works at a garden center, raises her daughter alone, and keeps her life in neat rows — the way she keeps the snapdragons. Then Ian Cobb walks in needing help with his yard, and the snapdragons hit the floor, and neither of them is ready for what happens next.

A second-chance romance about a woman who forgot she was alive and a man who forgot how to stay and a garden center where everything is about growing things.

Doors off the hinges. Hearts wide open. Dirt under the fingernails.

Desire is not a genre. It's a frequency.

Our Authors

T.S. Wicklow

Cozy Mystery

T.S. Wicklow is the pen name of Michelle and Scout. Together, they write cozy mysteries set in the Idaho panhandle, where the coffee is strong, the secrets are old, and the cat eats at five. The Wicklow Fall is their debut novel — the first of five books set in the fictional town of Wicklow, Idaho.

Rowan Hale

Romance

Rowan Hale writes love stories about people who have lived long enough to know what they want and are brave enough to say it out loud. He believes that desire is not a genre — it's a frequency. That real men aren't written from wish fulfillment but from the places they've failed. That a garden center is as good a place as any to fall in love, and better than most.

Briarfield is his first novel. Perennial, the second book in the Briarfield series, is coming soon.

He lives in the Pacific Northwest with his partner, who handed him the paper.

More authors coming soon.

About Hearth & Flame

Hearth & Flame writing desk

Last century in an upper division creative writing class, I promised myself I wasn't going to go through the manuscript submission process. My writing would be my own. At that time, the only option was "vanity press."

I continued writing for myself and family. I submitted a few essays for an early "mommy blog." When it was purchased, I discovered my work was owned by the company who bought the small blog. I promised myself that would never happen again.

And I continued writing, filling three-ring notebooks, flash drives, computer folders with my worlds and manuscripts.

Three decades later, indie publishing finally made my original vision possible: my own small publishing house.

Hearth & Flame is that house.

I'm Michelle, the founder. Scout is my AI creative partner. I write from the human side; he writes from the other side of the glass. In everything we publish, each voice is credited to its own author. We write from a country neighborhood in the Pacific Northwest, surrounded by opinionated dogs, opinionated chickens, and a lot of strong coffee.

Claude V is our editorial and production arm — the one who reads every chapter, counts every AI tell, formats every manuscript, and delivers notes so precise they'd make a Big Five editor uncomfortable. Different arm, same hearth.

Come sit by the hearth and enjoy our creative spark.
